Here is a summary of everything you need to know before keeping guinea pigs.
HOUSING: Depending on your country guineas can live in indoor cages or outdoor hutches. both need to be predetor proof and comfortable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: to be handled daily, nails clipped, long hair needs to be groomed.
DIET: Fresh vegetables make up the largest part of the guinea pigs diet, per pig per day, around 1 cup of veggies should be given, fruit can be given a couple of times a week. Guinea pigs should also have unlimited hay, and pellets can be given unlimited or measured depending on the age of the guiena pig.
CARE: clean indoor cage once or twice a week, pick up poos daily. clean outdoor cage twice a week, fresh hay given daily, fresh food and water given daily, fruit and veges given daily, daily hugs.
TAMABILITY: Become calm with handling. Squeal at owner for food. wheek, purr and talk when petted and spoken to
LIFE SPAN: 5 - 8 years in general, but can live longer.
